Volunteer with GYSC – Get Involved and Make a Difference!

Great Yarmouth Swimming Club relies on the dedication of volunteers to ensure the club runs smoothly and provides the best experience for our swimmers. Whether you have a little time to spare or can commit regularly, every bit of help makes a difference!

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is a fantastic way to support the club and be part of your child’s swimming journey. By getting involved, you can:
✔ Support the club and help it grow.
✔ Meet other parents and be part of a welcoming community.
✔ Gain new skills and experience.
✔ Make a positive impact on young swimmers.

Ways You Can Help

There are many ways to volunteer, whether at training sessions, club events, or competitions. Some key roles include:

  • Poolside Helpers – Assist coaches with younger swimmers (no experience needed).
  • Gala Volunteers – Assist with organising and running competitions (e.g., marshalling swimmers, helping with refreshments, handing out medals).
  • Committee Members – Join the club’s committee and help with decision-making.
  • Fundraising & Sponsorship – Support the club through fundraising events or helping to secure sponsorships.
  • Admin & Communications – Help with tasks such as social media updates, newsletters, and managing club records.

What’s Involved?

Many volunteer roles require no prior experience—just enthusiasm and a willingness to help! Some positions, like Poolside Helpers, may require a DBS check and safeguarding training, which the club will arrange for you.

How to Get Started

  1. Get a Swim England membership - Every person involved in any club activity must have SE Membership. To get started request membership from our membership officer
  2. Let Us Know You’re Interested – Speak to a committee member or email us at volunteers@gysc.org.uk
  3. Find a Role That Suits You – We can help match you with a role that fits your availability and skills.
  4. Attend a Briefing or Training (if needed) – Some roles require short training sessions, which we’ll provide.
  5. Get Involved & Make a Difference!

Volunteering is a rewarding way to give back to the club and support the next generation of swimmers. Whether you can help once in a while or on a regular basis, we’d love to hear from you!
