Leeanne’s London Marathon! »

Last year I decided to take the challenge of running the London marathon in 2016, one because I'm turning 40 and two to dedicate the run to my youngest daughter Willow as she has a chronic illness.

She was granted her wish in 2012, this was an amazing experience for us as a family as we spent so much time in hospital that having this wish granted was a life saver. After 345 days in hospital in and out of hdu we needed a little time away from the same thing. Ray's of Sunshine granted us a weekend away we had Harrods to ourselves and the girls were treated like royalty. It was so magical, Willow just wanted to meet Father Christmas but they provided so much more. I have a ballot space so don't need to raise lots of money so I had a target of £500 which I've successfully achieved my new target is £1500.00

We want to thank Ray's of Sunshine for everything they did for us as a family and raise so much deserved money for other children to experience what willow has.

To help reach my target of £1,500 please visit my JustGiving page and give whatever you can - www.justgiving.com/Leeanne-Abbotts

Thanks,

Leeanne

Bronze & Silver training equipment »

In the next few months there will be a few small introductions I would like to make to our swimming sessions, which will undoubtedly make them more beneficial and fun for you complete.

As a member of Bronze or Silver Squad, you will require your own set of basic training aids that will need to be brought along to every session and placed on poolside ready to access whenever required. I know that many of you do already have some of your own equipment, but I would like to ask and ensure that every swimmer in these squads owns the following:

  • Kickboard

  • Pull buoy

  • Short training fins

  • Water bottle

  • Club hat

  • Reliable goggles

With this equipment, we will be able to engage in a wider range of exciting drills and technique work that will aim to improve the quality and speed of your swimming. Moreover, becoming familiar with using the training aids on a regular basis will prepare you for moving into the higher level squads such as Gold and Platinum.

You can often find kick boards and pull buoys in places like Sports Direct; however some of the best places to purchase them are online websites such as:

I would like to set a rough deadline for when you should have acquired this equipment by as the end of May. By this time we will be using the equipment more regularly in training, so failing to bring it along may result in sitting out  and missing specific sets.

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Kind regards,

Rhianna James
