Team GY at the 'Norfolks'

Tuesday, 23 March 2010 09:06

The last two weekends have seen the Norfolk Age Group Championships at Thetford at which thirty swimmers from the club took part.
Pride of place must go to Isaac Kirby, and Jack Utting who between them had fourteen first places and created eight new county records. Isaac from his six events had six first places with new records in the 50m Breastroke and Fly all in the 11yrs age group.
Jack from his eleven events in the 12yrs had eight first places and three seconds, with six new county records. These results have made him Norfolk Bagcats Champion for his age group. The performances of the two swimmers has placed them both, high in the National and Eastern Area rankings on all strokes.
Isaac has a first place ranking on all strokes for the Eastern Area, and a second place Nationally for Breastroke. Jack has two second place Area rankings and four thirds, with two third places Nationally, Backstroke and Fly.
A vastly improved Daniel Henderson in the fourteen years came first in the 50m Breastroke, second in the Backstroke and Freestyle and third in the 100m Breastroke.  and Fly. Tom Smith swimming in what was a highly competive race did well to gain a third place in the 15 yrs Backstroke.
To get a place in the final of each event and so finish in the final six is quite an achievement in this high entry gala, so it is well done to Lawrence King Fourth, Laura Loveland Fourth, Connor Webster Fourth, Callum Stannard Fourth, Natasha Pestka Fifth, Kelly Pywell Fifth, Ellie Holden Sixth, Danielle Page Sixth, Aaron Hudson Fifth, and Shanise Webster Sixth.
The eventual tally of places was 15 Firsts, 4 Seconds, 3 Thirds, 5 Fourths, 8 Fifths and 11 sixths.
This was an excellent result for the club and well done to all those who did not make the finals but all of whom achieved personal best times.GYSC_Norfolks_Team
