Monday, 30 May 2011 15:34

On Saturday at the Phoenix Pool the second round of the Suffolk Summer League took place. Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft O/B were both competing so it was bound to be keenly contested. The Great Yarmouth team fought hard but were edged out by their rivals Lowestoft O/B A who were the eventual winners, Great Yarmouth A took second place followed by Leiston, Lowestoft O/B B and Great Yarmouth B.

The 10/u started well with Jenna Utting in a fast race a clear winner in the Fly, second in the Breastroke. Atlanta Jarvis found the the Lowestoft swimmer very fast but in close races she finished second, Freestyle and Backstroke. Aaron Hudson was in good form with a second in Freestyle and Breastroke. Joshua Ford got a second in the Backstroke with Miles Houghton third but the Fly saw both boys get new P.Bs with Miles second and Joshua third.

Lauren James had an excellent swim for her first place in the 11/u Breastroke and a third in the Fly. Amelia Driver could not catch the leading swimmers and finished third in the Freestyle and Backstroke. Joseph Windsor- Freeman kept with the leaders throughout his races but just fell behind at the end finising second in the Backstroke and third in the Freestyle. Callumm Stannard against much bigger swimmers had a good third place in the Breastroke.

12/u saw Bethany Burwood fight off Danielle Page to soar to first place in the Breastroke with Danielle second close behind. Taylor Hudson contributed valuable points with her second in Backstroke and third in the Freestyle as did Loretta Askew with her two third places Backstroke and Fly. Jake Honey came off best for the boys with two second places Backstroke and Fly, a a third in the Freestyle.

The 13/u girls found the competition tough and the best result came from Katherine Turton third in the 100m I/M. Issac Kirby for the boys was the most successful swimmer on the night swimming superbly to win the 100m Freestyle in under the minute, he also won the 100m Backstroke and I/M.
