Suffolk Summer League 2011 Final Rounds - Report

Monday, 11 July 2011 15:38

On Saturday in the final rounds of the Suffolk Summer League the A team in the first division finished fourth, Lowestoft & OB 1922, Stowmarket 1832, Sudbury 1634, Great Yarmouth 1571, Leiston 1422 and Beccles 1338. The B team swimming in the second division came last. Halstead 222, Lowestoft /OB 189 Beccles 179 Great Yarmouth 169.

The A team 10/u girls gave the team a good start with second places for Atlanta Jarvis, Backstroke and Freestyle and thirds for Jenna Utting, Breaststroke and Fly. For the boys Aaron Hudson kept it going with a second in Backstroke, and a third in the Fly.

The 11/u found tough opposition and the best result came from the ever improving Lauren James with a second in Breaststroke and fourth in a close Fly swim.

The 12/u saw two good swims from Danielle Page for a first place in Breaststroke and a third in Fly. Taylor Hudson although swimming her fastest yet in Feestyle had to be content with two fourth places Backstroke and Freestyle. Oliver Tedstone had a new PB for his second place in Fly, but could only manage fourth place in the Breaststroke, as was the case with Jake Honey in a tight Backstroke race.

The 13/u girls found sucess difficult, the best place was a fourth for Laura Loveland in the Breaststroke. The boys faired better with a third for Alexander Goff in the Fly, but the best performance of the gala came from Isaac Kirby with three excellent first places 100m I/M, 100m Breaststroke, and a 59 second 100m Freestyle. This should spur him on to a good performance in the coming National Age Group Championships.

The B team although finishing last had some good results with Emma Gordon Freestyle, and Backstroke and Clarissa Burwood Breaststroke and Fly getting second places for the 10/u. Sam Skuse swept the board with three excellent first places Freestyle, Backstroke, and Breaststroke.

Luke Daine in his first gala got off to a good start with a first place in the 11/u Backstroke.

Bethany Burwood soared away to win the 12/u Breaststroke and swam up an age group for a second place in the 13/u I/M. Loretta Askew was unlucky to only finish second in all of her three races just missing that first place Freestyle, Backstroke, Fly.

The 13/u saw a detemined Thomas Clarke come in with a first place and a new PB in the Backstroke.
