Suffolk Junior League 2010 Final Report
Monday, 05 July 2010 13:40
On Saturday at Stowmarket in the final round of the Suffolk Summer League, Great Yarmouth needed a good result to avoid relegation, but with call offs and swimmers recording times below their best this was not to be and we finished in fifth place. Deben 202, Lowestoft & Oulton Broad 201, Stowmarket 190, Beccles 158 and Great Yarmouth 147.
The best place for the 10/u girls came from Amelia Driver who's gusty swim gave her fourth place in the Fly. The 11/u girls saw Danielle Page with her usual determinaton come third in the freestyle with a new P/B, and just miss out on first place in the Fly. Katherine Turton swimming Freestyle recorded her best time yet for her third place in the 12/u. Laura Loveland tried hard to catch the leading swimmers but had to be content with third place. For the 13/u Isabel Postle was in fine form but her excellent time of 1.06 for 100m Freestyle could only give her third place, she did however acheive a good second place in the 100m Fly.
For the boys 10/u Aaron Hudson came fourth in the Freestyle but Alexander Goff in the 11/u was most unlucky to miss out on first place in the Freestyle and Fly both in close races. The 12/u saw Issac Kirby race away to take first place in all his races, Freestyle, Breastroke, and Fly. A similar pattern followed with Jack Utting who easily won his races, Backstroke and I/M. George Yusuff managed a fourth place against a strong field of Breastroke swimmers.
Also swimming were Emily Loveland, Taylor Hudson, Bethany Burwood, Bethany Roberts, Rebecca Spry, Ellie Holden, Paige Lovage, Miles Houghton, Jack Collins, Callum Stannard, Jake Honey, Jamie King, James Walker, Andrew Hacon and James Mann.
As a consolation Great Yarmouth won the trophy for best supported club.
