In the Norwich and Peterborough Trophy at the Phoenix Pool on Saturday, Great Yarmouth finished third, with Beccles the winners with 133 points, Diss 119, Great Yarmouth 100, Long Stratton 58.
The 10/U got the team off to a bright start with Jenna Martin winning the Backstroke in fine style and a second in the Freestyle. Natasha Mansfield Holly came in with two third places Breastroke and Fly. Joshua Ford continues his winning ways with two first places Freestyle and Backstroke, Miles Houghton was close behind winning the Fly and second in the Breastroke.
Katie Nesbit just failed to get first place with a determined effort and new P.B. in the 12/u Breastroke and a third in the Backstroke. Lauren James hung on in the Fly but just missed out on first with a third in the Freestyle. Jack Colby and Liam Hanley swam hard but both got third places Fly, and Freestyle.
The 14/u girls although creating new P.Bs in their events found the Beccles and Diss swimmers fast, so third places came from Carla Tawell Backstroke and Fly and Jennifer Baker Breastroke. Declan Scott although in good form had to be content with two second places Freestyle and Fly. James Walker in two close races came third Backstroke and Breastroke.
In Open events Shanise Webster never allowed the girls to get away from her, but was just pushed out at the end for a second in the Breastroke and third in the Freestyle. Natasha Pestka battled hard in the Backstroke and came third in a close race. Harley Matthews and Brandon Tennant both had good swims for their second places Backstroke and Breastroke in what were fast competitive races.
