Norfolk Junior League Round 1 Report

Tuesday, 30 March 2010 08:23

On Saturday at Dereham in the first round ef the Norfolk Junior League, Great Yarmouth were pushed into third place by Dereham 196, UEA City of Norwich 194, Great Yarmouth 182 and Norwich Swans with 133 points.

The 9yrs boys team of Jack Collins, Callum Stannard, Miles Houghton, and Aaron Hudson, gave the club a good start winning the Special Relay and the Feestyle Relay in fine style.

The girls of Gabriella Crick, Emily Loveland, Clarissa Burwood, and Natasha Mansfield-Holly followed this with two second places. Lauren James for the 10/u girls, gave her all to get a first place but had to be content with a new PB and second place in the 50m Backstroke. Aderlaide Loveland fought hard in the 12/u Freestyle but was denied first place by the UEA swimmer. Katherine Turton and Paige Lovage suffered the same fate with second places in the Breastroke and Fly.

Isaac Kirby for the boys again swam away from the opposition a clear winner in the 12/u Fly and I.M. The Breastroke saw George Yusuff battle away with the other swimmers but he held them off for an excellent win. Declan Scott was unlucky not to win the Freestyle and was just pushed into second place in a thrilling race.

The team held on with second places in the older relay age groups, but the club had to be content with third place overall.

Good supporting swims came from Isobel Robbins, Amelia Driver, Emily Acland, Grace Baxter, Taylor Hudson, Dannielle Page, Laura Loveland, Joseph Windsor-Freeman, Joshua Clifton, Alexander Goff, Patrick Manning, Jack Colby and James Walker.
