Norfolk Junior League 2011 1st Round - Report

Saturday saw the first round of the 2011 Norfolk Junior League at Wymondham, at which Great Yarmouth finished second with Norwich Swan A first 210, Great Yarmouth 179, Little Fish 168, Diss Otters 138, Norwich Swan B 87.

The Relay teams had the most sucess winning eight out of a possible sixteen and two second places.

For the 10/u girls Gabriella Crick got a third in the 25m Fly. The Freestyle relay with Gabriella, Carys Edwards, Natasha Mansfield- Holly, and Clarissa Burwood were just pushed into second place.For the boys Joshua Ford won the 50m Freestyle in fine style, with second places for Miles Houghton, Backstroke and Aaron Hudson Breastroke. The addition of Jack Collins saw first place in both relays, Medley and Freestyle.

The 11/u was a strong age group with Lauren James getting a second in the 50m Breastroke but the Relay team of Lauren, Grace Pettigrew, Isobel Robbins and Amelia Driver won the Freestyle Relay. Joseph Windsor- Freeman continues to improve with a second in the 50m Fly and close third places came from Ashvin Seetul Backstroke and Liam Hanley Breastroke. Joshua Smith in his first league got a fourth in the Freestyle.

The 12/u girls saw Taylor Hudson Backstroke and Daniella Page Fly both record new PBs for their second places. Loretta Askew fought hard but had to be content with third place in the 50m Freestyle and a new PB. With Bethany Burwood coming into the Medley team they took second place. Jake Honey continues his run of sucess with an exciting. first place in the 50m Backstroke. Good second places in this age group came from Alexander Goff Feestyle and Fly with best swim yet for Oliver Tedstone Breastroke. Jack Colby came in for the relays and the boys were clear winners in both Freestyle and Medley.

The 9/u only swim relays but the girls team of Honey Harvey, Emma Gordon, Jenna Uttin, and Atlanta Jarvis raced away from the rest for two clear first places. The boys, Scott Ribbons, Samuel Skuse, Ryan Webb and Morgan Clarke were easily in first place but they were disqualified in the Medley for a faulty take over.

This second place puts the team in the A final.
