Inter-County Swimming Championship Report

Monday, 06 July 2009 11:07

county swimmersGreat Yarmouth Swimming Club had four swimmers chosen to represent the County of Norfolk at the East Region Inter-County Swimming Championships held at Thetford on Sunday. The East region contains six counties; Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex. The four swimmers chosen to be part of the Norfolk team were, Grace Hubbard, Zoe Prettyman, Jack Utting and Isaac Kirby who represented both the GYSC and Norfolk County admirably and wore the black and gold swim cap of the Norfolk team with pride. Grace swam in a 4 x 50 mtr medley relay (freestyle) and a 4 x 50 mtr freestyle relay. Zoe swam a 4 x 50 mtr freestyle relay. Jack swam a 4 x 50 mtr medley relay (backstroke), 100 mtr backstroke coming first place with a personal best time of 1:08:04, 100 mtr butterfly also in a personal best time of 1:11:23 and 4 x 50 mtr freestyle relay. Isaac swam a 4 x 50 mtr freestyle relay. None of the swimmers lost position in the relays and swam very strongly against tough opposition. The Norfolk team managers were very satisfied with the GYSC swimmers and the way they conducted themselves competing in what amounts as the best swimmers of each County which includes themselves, well done the GYSC is proud of you all.
