County Challenge Report 2010

Over the last two weekends swimmers from the Great Yarmouth Swimming Club have been taking part in the Norfolk County ASA Challenge Galas at Dereham. Great Yarmouth had 48 swimmers taking part, with ages ranging from 9yrs up to 15yrs and events at 50m, 100m, and 200m, the club had an excellent tally of medals. There were 108 places in the first six, of which 16 were first, 22 were seconds, and 12 were thirds.

Leading the way for the boys was Connor Webster with three first places  in 50 Fly, 100 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke and second in 50 Backstroke, 50 Breastroke and 50m Freestyle. He was followed by Lawrence King with three firsts, 50 Backstroke, 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle.

The most success for the girls came from Natasha Pestka with first places in the 200I/M, 50 Backstroke and second in the 50 Fly, with third in the 100 Backstroke.

Other placings in the first three were:
Kelly Pyewell first 100 Breastroke, second 50 Breastroke. Danielle Page first 50 Breastroke, second 100I/M, third 200 Breastroke, Gabriella Crick first 50 Breastroke, second 50 Freestyle. Laura Loveland first 200 Breastroke, second 100 Breastroke, third 200I/M. Clarissa Burwood first 200 Breastroke. Katherine Turton second 50 Breastroke. India Loveland second 200 Breastroke. Paige Lovage second 100 Fly. Lauren James third 50 Breastroke, 200 Breastroke. Emily Loveland third 50 Breastroke. Megan Newman third 50 Backstroke. Amelia Driver third 50 Fly.

Jake Honey first 50 Backstroke, second 200 Backstroke. Jack Collins first 100I/M, second 50 Fly, third 50 Freestyle. Aaron Hudson first 50 Breastroke, third 50 Backstroke. Declan Scott second 200 Breastroke, second 200 Freestyle. Brandon Tennant second 200 Breastroke. Tom Smith second 50 Fly, third 100 Backstroke. James Applegate second 100 Breastroke, 50 Breastroke. Keelan Pyewell second 100 Breastroke, 200I/M. Alexander Goff third 50 Fly.

Well done to all the swimmers for an excellent result and the 119 PB's

Congratulations to Caroline Henderson who has been appolnted to officiate at the British Gas National Swimming Championships at Sheffield.
