C H Beckett 2010 Round 1 Report

On Sunday at the Great Yarmouth High School the first round of this years C.H. Beckett League took place. These are Novice Galas for the younger swimmer. It was an exciting event with plenty of spectator participation and it was Long Stratton who took an early lead. The eventual winners were North Norfolk Vikings 110, Great Yarmouth Blue 103, Long Stratton 95, Great Yarmouth White 68.
Oliver Tedstone got the Blue team off to a good start easily winning the 10/u Backstroke and Freestyle. Miles Houghton also completed a double, winning the 9/u Backstroke and Freestyle. Jack Colby in a determined swim won the 10/u Breastroke. Callum Stannard not to be outdone roared away from the field to win his Breastroke by 3 seconds.

For the girls Clarissa Burwood went into an early and was never going to be caught in her two races winning the 9/u Breastroke and Backstroke. The 10/u Fly saw a first place for Kioni Broomfield getting ahead of the Long Stratton swimmer.

Bethany Burwood and Jamie King both came in with strong second places in the girls and boys 11/u Breastroke.

For the White team Adelaide Loveland and Katheen Alyward both surprised the Blues with Adelaide winning the 13/u Backstroke and Kathleen the 10/u Backstroke. Georgina Harris 13/u Breastroke, Isobel Robbins 11/u Fly and Backstroke also pushed the Blues into third with their second places. George Manns second place came from beatlng brother James. Valuable second place points came from Joshua Clifton 10/u Backstroke, Liam Hanley 10/u Breastroke and Joshua Smith 9/u Freestyle.


Other team members were Carla Towell, Beth Symonds, Natasha Mansfield-Holly ,Laura Loveland, Abbie Broughton, Olivier Heseltine, Hannah Ford, Jade Sommerton Davies, Laney Williams, Honey Harvey, Grace Pettigrew, Maddison Clarke-Debbage, Adam Brewin, Joshua Colk,Jamie King. George Loveland, Leroy Honey, Charlie Killick-Catchpole and Jake Honey.
