On Saturday at Wellingborough in the first round of the Arena National League, Great Yarmouth finished in a very creditable second place. Wellingborough 187 points, Great Yarmouth 170 points, Gainsborough 149 points, Corby 137 points and Thetford 101 points.
The 11/u girls were in top form with two first places coming from Atlanta Jarvis in the Backstroke and Breaststroke and two second places from Jenna Utting, Fly and Freestyle. The boys battled away with the best place coming from Aaron Hudson, third in the 50m Backstroke.
For the 13/u's, Nadia Wright in a well controlled 100m Freestyle swim gained an excellent first place against strong opposition. Lauren James as determined as ever just missed first place with a second place in the Breaststroke. Oliver Tedstone, Breaststroke and Alexander Goff, Fly, both achieved third places with new P.Bs.
The 15/u girls was a highly competitive age group but Ellie Holden, Backstroke, Laura Loveland Breaststroke and Olivia Smith, Fly, all gained third places in what were very close races. The boys saw Isaac Kirby and Jack Utting win all four races between them. Leading from the start they went further ahead as the races progressed with Jack winning the Backstroke and Fly. Isaac the Breaststroke and going under the minute with 58.50 to take the 100m Freestyle.
For the Open girls Charlie Smith continues to get amongst the top places with two hard fought second places, 100m Fly and I/M. Kelly Pyewell swimming above her age group fought hard but was just touched out of first place for a second in the Breaststroke. Natasha Pestka continued the fighting spirit with a third place in the Backstroke. Oliver Postle came in with a first place in the Fly but although getting under the minute with 59.6 in the 100m Freestyle had to be content with second place. Daniel Smith got off with a good start in the Backstroke and held first place throughout the race for a comfortable win. Daniel Henderson continues his improvement, second in the Breaststroke with a new P.B.
Good support swimming came from. Joshua Ford, Joseph Windsor Freeman, Jake Honey, James Walker, Tom Smith, Taylor Hudson, Danielle Page, Aderlaide Loveland, Honey Harvey, Amelia Driver, Jack Collins, Declan Scott, Keelan Pyewell and India Loveland.
