Club Meets the Politicians

A delegation from the Great Yarmouth Swimming Club met with the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Brandon Lewis last month. It was an opportunity for the club to explain their current success and describe their vision for the future. It follows on from a similair meeting that the club held with our M.P. Tony Wright last year.
The club believes that in order to improve the facilities for competitive swimming in the Borough of Great Yarmouth it will require extensive lobbying at a political level and a great deal of support from the residents of the town. Paola Moore, the Club Chairman said "Mr. Lewis, who is a keen sportsman himself, was very supportive of our plans". Suffolk Winter League Round 2

Postal Swim
Monday, 25 January 2010 09:19
The club will be taking part in the International Postal Swim which is organised by the British Long Distance Swimming Association.
Swimmers have the opportunity to see how many lengths of the pool they can complete during a one hour period and the results are 'posted' to the association who then make the awards.
The GYSC will be holding their swim at the Great Yarmouth High School Pool on Sat 13th February between 2.00pm and 4.30pm. All our swimmers are invited to attend and see how far they can swim in an hour or swim for longer to achieve their distance awards which will be available on the day.
Entry is £4.00, please see Garry or Jo and a degree of parental involvement is required in counting the swimmers lengths.
