Increase in Squad Session Fees

At the last General Committee Meeting held on the 17th March 2010 it was unanimously agreed that the club should make the role of Chief Coach a professional appointment. The Committee also agreed to increase the Squad Fees so that it can finance this new position. The increase in fees will take effect from 2nd May 2010. All squad swimmers will shortly be receiving information on the new fees, details on how to change their standing orders and a sheet of FAQ's.

County Championship Success for Team GY

The Great Yarmouth Swimmers who competed in this years Norfolk County Championship galas which were held over two weekends in Thetford earlier this month, achieved a remarkable level of success. Fifteen 1st places; Four 2nd places; Three 3rd places; Five 4th places; Eight 5th places and eleven 6th places. They set eight County Records and eight East Region Qualifying times were achieved. With 111 Personal Best times, the Team GY swimmers demonstrated how competetive they are at this very high level.
Easter Holidays

Please be advised that the teaching sessions, which follow the school holidays, will finish for the Easter break after Tuesday 30th March and will resume on Saturday 17th April 2010.
Squad sessions continue through the Easter holidays, apart from the sessions on Friday 2nd April, Sunday 4th April and Monday 5th April 2010 which are cancelled.
Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers

The Great Yarmouth Swimming Club are collecting the Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers this year. The scheme has been extended to cover sports clubs that have attained Club Mark accreditation, so we are able to benefit from all the vouchers we collect.
If you would like to give your vouchers to the club then please see Tracey Matthews on a Saturday at the Phoenix, Jo Smith on a Monday at the High School Pool or alternatively just drop them in a club admin box at any time.
Suffolk Winter League Round 3 Winners

Great Yarmouth Swimming Club had a very successful trip to Thetford this weekend where they won the final round of the Suffolk Winter League.
A very close evening of racing between the teams from Deben, Thetford, Felixstowe, Leiston and Great Yarmouth saw the Great Yarmouth team win the competition with 208 points compared to their nearest rivals Felixstowe with 202 points.
This great performance means that the team finished as runner up in their division and have therefore achieved promotion to Division 1.
