Four Team Gy Swimmers Get County Call Up

Four of the Great Yarmouth Swimming Club's members were selected to represent Norfolk at the East Region Intercounties Gala on Sunday.

Suffolk Junior League 2010 Final Result

It was not the result that the team wanted or judging by recent performances really expected but we were beaten into fifth place at the final round of the Suffolk Junior League. Head Coach Garry Jarvis said "with some of our swimmers unavailable and the top level of this competition, it was always going to be difficult, we did however manage nine personal best times and once again received the best supported team trophy, which was nice."

Club History from California

Ken Mason, a resident of California U.S.A. has sent the club a family heirloom. A newspaper article from 1897, it describes a swimming race involving his grandfather which was held in the sea in June 1897. Paola Moore the Club Chairman said "it is incredibly generous of Ken and his family to let us have this lovely item, it will really help us pass on our rich heritage to the current generation". The club will be displaying the article in the Phoenix trophy cabinet just as soon as it has taken advice on how best to preserve it.

Great Results from County Challenge Gala 2010

Team Gy had a great set of results from this years County Challenge Gala held over two weekends at Dereham. The team managed 16 first, 22 second, 12 third, 22 fourth, 17 fifth and 19 sixth places. Head Coach Garry Jarvis comment was "Brilliant set of results, well done to you all".

Jack and Isaac at the East Region Championships

Great Yarmouth Swimming Club's Jack Utting and Isaac Kirby both attended the British Gas East Region swimming championships at the UEA Sportpark taking four gold medals between them.
