Club info - Joining

Great Yarmouth Swimming Club welcomes new members of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. If you are a beginner, improver or competition swimmer our comprehensive training programme offers you the opportunity to build on your skills and stamina enabling you to reach your full potential in the sport.

From teaching a young child to swim for the first time, through to providing expert coaching for national swimmers, the club's wide range of programmes have the training to match your needs.

Starting swimming with Great Yarmouth Swimming Club is easy.

• Step 1

Get in touch with Linda or Nigel on 01493 377906 or send them a message at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and they will be able to tell you what places we have available.

• Step 2

You will be invited to come and have a look and try one of our sessions. Lessons are available for children from age 4 and squad sessions from age 8 (age 7 for exceptional swimmers)

• Step 3

Once you have had a look at us and we have had a look at you, (please note that squad swimmers will have to demonstrate a certain level of ability) you will be placed in the sessions that best match your ability. All new members are accepted on a trial basis and usually settle in very quickly.

Membership Fees (which includes ASA Registration):

Swimming                 - £20

Adult Non Swimming - £12

Swimming Lessons:

Swimming lessons cost £2.50 for each 1/2 hour lesson. They are purchased in advance for each half term.

Squad Subscriptions:

Subscriptions are to be paid monthly by standing order. The amount is dependant upon the number of weekly sessions you attend.

1 session/week   - £6/month

2 sessions/week - £11/month

3 sessions/week - £15/month

4 sessions/week - £19/month

5 sessions/week - £23/month

6 sessions/week - £27/month

7 sessions/week - £31/month

Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) Registration

All club swimmers are required to register with the ASA. This provides insurance cover and is a requirement to represent the club in league or open swimming events. The ASA membership charge is included in the annual membership fee paid to the club.
