The Club is delighted to have Gerry Bennett coaching the Tuesday evening sessions alongside Tom & Charlie Smith. Gerry has been involved with GYSC for many years and is a very experienced and much respected coach. He is taking on this responsibility on a temporary basis until Chris Murrell takes charge but it is hoped that we may call on him again in the future - Timed Start Results

Nigel Utting has successfully passed the final evaluation on his Swimming Officials Referees course. The course is widely recognised as being extreemely demanding and we therefore congratulate Nigel on his achievement. He joins Jo Banham, who is also a fully qualified referee, at the club and this puts us in a very enviable position when it comes to training our exsisting and new swimming officials. If you are interested in training to become an official, the swimmers do rely on there being a fair number at a gala, please see Jo or Nigel and they will be very happy to discuss the training that we are able to offer.
On 10th May more than 30 members of Great Yarmouth Swimming Club took part in a distance/timed hour swim.
A wide range of ages and abilities took part and the distances swam ranged from 100 meters up to well over 2000 meters.
Many of the children have been with the club since joining the learn to swim lessons as complete non swimmers.
Teacher and Coach Jo Banham was quoted as saying ‘How impressed and proud she was of all the swimmers who took part and thanked all the parents for counting the lengths’
Great Yarmouth were narrowly pushed into fourth place at last weekends Norfolk Junior League final. Having qualified in the top half of the competition as the result of some fine swimming from the first round we knew that the team would face a difficult task. There were some excellent swims, Hannah Ingham, Jenna Utting, Harry Grice & Tommy Chandler all achieving first place finishes.
Team GY travelled to Stowmarket for the first round of the Suffolk's summer league and in a tough competition, were to walk away with a fantastic second spot at the end of an exciting evening of junior swimming. Nigel Utting the GYSC Team Manager said 'All the kids swum well and I was impressed by the determination shown by all, particularly those asked to swim up'.
Last weekend our teams competed in the annual County Relay gala which was held at the Norwich Sports Park pool. This is a popular event for both swimmers and spectators with our scoring team finishing in a slightly dissapointing 6th place. Again thanks to the swimmers for their fantastic effort along with the great support from their parents & coaches.
